What Happens If My Customer Enters the Wrong Shipping Address?

What Happens If My Customer Enters the Wrong Shipping Address?

Incorrect shipping addresses are one of the most common issues in ecommerce. Understanding what can and cannot be changed after an order is placed can help avoid delays and additional costs.

Before Production Starts

If an order has not yet entered production, address changes may be possible.

Contact support immediately and provide:

  • Order number
  • Customer name
  • Correct shipping address

The sooner you contact us, the better the chance the address can be updated.

After Production Starts

Once an order enters production, address changes may no longer be possible.

At this stage, the order is already being prepared for fulfillment and shipping.

After the Order Ships

Once a package has been handed to the carrier, Teelaunch cannot guarantee address changes.

Depending on the carrier and destination:

  • The customer may be able to request a delivery update directly with the carrier.
  • The package may be returned to sender.
  • Additional shipping fees may apply for reshipment.

Tips to Prevent Address Issues

Before fulfilling orders:

  • Encourage customers to double-check their shipping information.
  • Use address validation tools when available.
  • Review high-value orders for potential address errors.
