Etsy Shipping Step-by-Step Example

Etsy Shipping Step-by-Step Example

Why a product can look correctly set to free shipping and still charge at checkout.

Root cause Teelaunch's Order Settings control this automatically. In app.teelaunch.com → Settings → Order Settings, the option "Shipping Rules (Automatically assign shipping rules)" — when set to All, Only on Etsy orders, or Only on Shopify orders — makes the shipping rate on that platform automatically match Teelaunch's own default product shipping rate. This overrides whatever free-shipping setup exists on the store side.

The fix Set up a custom shipping profile on each platform with an explicit $0.00 rate, and assign the product(s) to it directly.

Etsy:

  1. Go to Settings → Shipping settings → Shipping profiles.

  2. Create a new profile with Free Shipping ($0.00).

  3. Apply it directly to the product listing.(go to Listings, select the specific product you want to edit, scroll down to the Shipping options section, and assign the new Free Shipping profile to it)

  4. Save.

Verify: run a test checkout on each platform with a real address and confirm shipping shows $0.

1. Inspecting the Product Listing in Etsy

Go to Shop Manager → Listings and select the product you want to edit to view its listing settings.

2. Viewing the Default Teelaunch Shipping Profile

Scroll down to the Shipping options section within the listing. You will see that the item is currently assigned to the default app-managed profile (e.g., Standard ShippingAdult Tee/L/S - Etsy-1789545377), which automatically calculates standard shipping rates synced from Teelaunch.

3. Navigating to Shipping Profiles

To create a new rule, go to Shop Manager → Settings → Shipping settings and click on the Shipping profiles tab. Click Create profile to set up a dedicated free-shipping profile.

Configuring the Custom Free Shipping Profile

In the setup modal:

  • Under Shipping prices, choose I'll enter fixed prices manually.

  • Enter your Origin ZIP code.

  • Under Free shipping, check the box for Free domestic shipping (and Free international shipping if offering global free shipping).

  • Enter a clear Profile name (e.g., test apparel free shipping).

  • Click Save profile.

4. Assigning the Product to the New Profile

Return to Shop Manager → Listings and open your product. Scroll down to Shipping options, open the profile dropdown menu, select your newly created Free Shipping profile, and click Publish.
